2015 Renault Koleos



A chassis testing mule of the next generation Renault Koleos has been spied in the Alps. While t

he current model has a crossover appearance, its successor will be more like an MPV as previewed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show when Renault revealed the R-Space Concept. Despite the body style change, the next Koleos will allegedly have some light off-road capabilities. The early mule seen in these spy shots is based on a wider and higher Renault Scenic platform.

There's no word about a potential launch date but most likely a reveal will occur next year before going on sale in 2015.

Renaultsport Twingo from K-Tec Racing


UK-based tuner K-Tec Racing has released a power boost kit for the Renaultsport Twingo. Launched in 2008, the Renaultsport Twingo is a pocket rocket featuring a naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter engine producing 131 bhp (98 kW) and 160 Nm (118 lb-ft) of torque. K-Tec thought the car deserved more power and lifted output to 163 bhp (121 kW) and 192 Nm (142 lb-ft).

These figures were possible by installing a high-performance tubular exhaust manifold and system, remapped ECU and Cat Cams Stage 1 cams. They haven't tested the car's performances but it should do the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) faster than the 8.7s necessary for the standard model, while top speed should be above the stock 125 mph (201 km/h).

 The full kit costs 2,625 GBP and comes with a 12-month warranty. It is compatible for any Renaultsport Twingo 133 model from 2008 onwards. Individual components are available on request. Further details are available in the attached press release.

Renault ZOE


ZOE Preview is evidence that "zero-emission" cars can combine sensuous, reassuring, sculpted styling with the promise of real driving enjoyment.The forward position of its windscreen and the teardrop form of its rear end emphasise the impression of fluidity, while its specific electric-car architecture permit a blunt bonnet and an intake-free front-end which contribute to its compact footprint and efficient aerodynamics.

It stands at just 4.10 metres in length and is powered by a 60kW (80hp) motor with torque of 222Nm that enables it to zip silently through city traffic. ZOE Preview is also ideal for out-of-town journeys thanks to its 19-inch wheels and reassuring, profiled flanks.

Renault ZOE Preview's battery can be charged in one of three ways: standard charge (between 6 and 8 hours depending on the available electric power), quick charge (37 miles range in less than 10 minutes or 80% battery capacity in 30 minutes) or "quickdrop".

Renault ZOE Preview's equipment package ensures the wellbeing of its occupants thanks to a triple-effect system developed in association with Biotherm®, the skin biology brand of L'Oréal's Luxury Products Division:

  • Skin hydration: conventional air conditioning systems can have a dehydrating effect on skin during longer journeys, but ZOE Preview's smart climate control system automatically adjusts the humidity level inside the car to optimise the comfort of its occupants.
  • Detox effect: a toxicity sensor monitors air quality and automatically closes the air vents if necessary. Harmful substances are trapped in the cabin filter to ensure that cabin air stays clean at all times.
  • Stimulating or relaxing scent diffuser: an electric system actively releases different scents depending on the needs of the moment (e.g. a relaxing fragrance during the drive home from work or, on the contrary, a scent to stimulate driver vigilance when traveling at night).
This package comes along with a specific audio ambience, with music selected in partnership with specialist agency Creative Diffusion (associated with Qwartz, International New Music Awards) to harmonise the audio and relaxing experience inside the car. Finally, ZOE Preview features a light therapy function. The central screen exudes a light that stimulates the occupants’ energy and further enhances the impression of wellbeing. This feature forms part of a joint-project with the world-renowned light therapy specialist, Philips.

Renault's Fastest Car: The Megane 265 Trophy

A top speed of 156mph and 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds not fast enough for you? Then have a look at Renault's new, even faster, 'stealth-like' hot hatch, the Megane 265 Trophy.


With a top speed of 158mph and 0-62mph coming up in just six seconds it's got to be the new Renaut Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy, the fastest road-going Renault ever

The newcomer has a power-to-weight ratio of 188bhp per tonne thanks to the engine's maximum turbo pressure being uprated to 2.5 bar, together with the air intake being revised to accommodate the higher pressure and running temperatures. Priced at £27,820, the Megane Renaultsport flagship is intended to take the fight to its VW Group rivals, the Golf and Scirocco R stablemates and, in so doing, blows its predecessor, the Renaultsport Megane 250 into the weeds. Well almost, as the previous model (producing 247bhp compared to the new model's 261bhp) was already capable of 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds, with a top speed just two mph short of that attained by its replacement.

 To mark out the new model, it will have Formula One inspired Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres, Recaro seats with yellow seatbelts and detailing, 19in Speedline alloys in gloss black with red trim, standard Liquid Yellow i.d. metallic paint, "Trophy" red decals, LED daytime running lights, Renaultsport Monitor on-board performance tracking and a special UK numbered plaque. The 265 will also feature the Cup chassis with stiffer springs, dampers and anti-roll bar, mechanical limited slip differential, Brembo brakes and PerfoHub independent steering axis front suspension which, says Renault, virtually eliminates torque steer.

Renault Captur

 

Renault showed up to the 2011 Geneva Motor Show with the cool Captur — a concept car with a very futuristic design language first seen on the DeZir Concept. Nothing much was said about this concept’s production, much like every other concept, but today Renault announced that the production version Captur will be unveiled in March at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The production version takes both the spirit and the name of the concept and combines them with elements from the new generation Clio hatchback.

The new Captur will be built on the same platform as the new Clio, but it will feature "a high-up driving position, large boot, modular interior and innovative stowage solutions." Under the hood the model will be offered with the same engine line-up as the new Clio, so customers will have to choose between both petrol and diesel engines.

After the Captur, Renault will be unveiling a larger SUV based on the Nissan Quashqai. Updated 01/11/2013: This review has been updated with the official details, images and specs. Hit the jump to read more about the new Renault Captur.



Renault developed their new Captur as direct competition for Nissan Juke. In Europe, the Nissan model is offered with a choice of one diesel and two 1.6-Liter gas-burning units, with power ranging from 110 horsepower to 190 horsepower. Despite its bulky exterior look, the Juke has stolen the hearts of many European customers and the new Captur will have to try very hard if it wants to become a success on the market.

Renault Captur officiell – suv eller MPV?



Mini har sin Countryman, Nissan har sin Juke och snart har Peugeot sin 2008 – segmentet som inhyser små och kompakta crossovers växer i snabb takt och i dag presenteras ytterligare ett tillskott. Renault Captur är den senaste i raden av bilar som vill vara bra på allt. Enligt fransmännen bjuder Captur på det bästa från tre världar. Den har utseendet och förarpositonen som en suv, utrymmet och flexibiliteten som en MPV och smidigheten och köglädjen som i en liten bil. Kombinationen av ett kompakt yttre, högre markfrigång, större hjul och skyddsplast anses tillgodose alla vardagens behov. Precis som fallet är med många av de senare årens små och trendriktiga bilar ska Captur gå att skräddarsy närmast till oändlighet. Karossen kan lackeras i tvåtonsmotiv och på insidan ska man kunna välja mellan olika klädslar, färger och motiv.

Standardutrustningen kommer bland annat att innefatta nyckellöst system, hill assist och parkeringssensorer bak. Med en totallängd på 412 centimeter skulle man kunna tro att Captur är fransk blåkopia på den två centimeter längre Nissan Juke, men så verkar inte vara fallet. De två bygger visserligen på samma plattform men det gör även lilla Clio.

Medan Juke byggs i Japan och Storbritannien kommer Captur att sättas ihop i Valladolid i Spanien. Om motorutbudet till Captur säger Renault inte mer än att det ska finnas bensin- och dieselmotorer med utsläpp från 96 g/km. Vi kan ana att Captur får låna motorer från Clio och instegsmotorn blir i så fall en trecylindrig bensinare med 90 hästkrafter. Minsta dieselmotorn heter dCi 90 och har lika många hästkrafter men släpper i Clio inte ut mer än 83 g/km.

Dacia Duster , Renault Duster, Nissan Qashqai


The Dacia Duster is the first crossover SUV developed by the Romanian automaker Automobile Dacia. Officially revealed on 8 December 2009, it became available in Europe from 18 March 2010.





Dacia Duster premium or Nissan Qashqai entry level? The question is legitimate, especially since these two competitors in the same group share many components, including a sober 1.5 dCi 106 hp. Match! The crisis does not seem to have taken on the compact SUV with two-wheel drive. Look at the Dacia Duster. Sold over 64,000 copies worldwide since its release in April 2010, it already occupies sixth place in its segment in France with 5.1% market share (5,335 sales in two months).

Moreover, delivery times give dizzy. Having lost their leading position in France for the benefit of the Peugeot 3008, the Nissan Qashqai is nevertheless good value for the category. If 7,800 copies had been sold in the first half of 2009, it is not less than 9199 models were sold in the same period in 2010. Although belonging to the same group, these two stars of the class have every reason to compete, despite the rather significant price difference in favor of the Franco-Romanian and quality of craftsmanship of  Japanese.


  

Used crossover offers more kit and class for same cash

So the new Duster makes a strong case for itself against new car rivals. But with prices starting from £8,995, it could even be considered an alternative to a used car.
Using our 1.5 dCi Laureate’s £12,995 list price as a guide, we scoured the classifieds to find out what kind of second-hand compact SUV you could get for the same sort of money. And our hunt turned up a model that has much in common with the Dacia SUV.
The Nissan Qashqai is a similar size to the Duster, is available with the same Renault-sourced 1.5 dCi diesel and comes with a choice of two or four-wheel drive.
Our £13,000 budget turned up a 2010 post-facelift Qashqai 1.5 dCi 2WD in Acenta trim from a main dealer, with just under 20,000 miles on the clock.
Both cars can be classed as crossovers, but while the Duster has a more rugged 4x4 look, the Qashqai’s less chunky lines still appear fresh. However, unlike the car in our pictures, Acenta models don’t come with roof rails. The Duster is taller, wider and has a slightly longer wheelbase than its Nissan cousin, too, so there’s a touch more passenger space inside.
In the boot, the Qashqai trails for space, with 410 litres (compared with the Dacia’s 475 litres) and 1,513 litres with the seats folded (against the new car’s 1,636 litres).
However, while the Duster’s boot seems only half-finished, the Nissan’s is fully lined with carpet and plastic trim, and has a lower load lip, too. And while the seats don’t fold completely flat, carpet covers the join between the seatbacks and boot floor to leave a tidier finish than in the Dacia.
On the road, the Qashqai has the measure of the Duster in corners. Despite its tall ride height, it feels every bit as agile as a conventional hatchback, but this doesn’t come at the expense of comfort, as the Nissan does a decent job of soaking up bumps.
Although both these cars use the same 1.5-litre dCi turbodiesel engine, the Duster weighs a significant 200kg less. So it’s faster in a straight line, and is marginally more efficient, too, returning 39.8mpg on our test versus the Qashqai’s 38.1mpg.
But the biggest difference between these two is what you get for your money. While the flagship Duster has a decent level of kit, an Acenta-spec Qashqai is frankly luxurious. The car we found had everything from a six-disc CD changer, climate control and auto lights and wipers to a multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, rear parking sensors and standard stability control.
Of course, you could get an older Qashqai in a higher trim level for even less money than a Duster – high-mileage, pre-facelift models in Visia trim start at £7,000. But while an approved used Qashqai from a dealer will have a year’s warranty, the Duster will be brand new and have three years’ cover, so there’s no previous history to worry about. For some, that peace of mind is worth more than a long kit list.
